Digital Physics

Saleh Shamloo, Physics Undergraduate Student, Sharif University of Technology

The computer is one of the cornerstones of modern research and technology. Computers can deal with very complex calculations with an underlying system that is deceptively simple. The immense analytical power of computers has led many people to think that maybe the universe can be described as an enormous computer. Many theories have been proposed, but none have been successful, mainly because these theories do not make testable predictions about the universe. Digital physics has mostly stayed a niche, but Stephen Wolfram’s bold claims about a theory of everything have recently sparked public interest.
